Joan Duskey Whytsell, 78, of Parkersburg

Joan Whytsell, 78, of Parkersburg, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. Mrs. Whytsell was born July 23, 1940 at Cremo, Calhoun County a daughter of the late Arlie D. and Dolly J. Duskey Satterfield Gillespie. Her husband, Kose Whytsell preceded her in death May 24, 2016.

Joan was a homemaker, talented artist and loved animals. She enjoyed reading, and completed two to three books a week.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheryl L. Himelrick and husband John of Parkersburg; two sons, Harold D. Whytsell and wife Cyndi of Mineral Wells and Clinton Whytsell of Parkersburg; a half sister, Carol Jane Ewing and husband Jack of Boaz; five grandchildren, Ryan, Jake, Chad and Dustin Whytsell and Bryce Himelrick. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Dale Whytsell.

A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Services will conclude with burial in the Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friend from 5-8 P.M. Tuesday and one hour prior to service on Wednesday. The obituary and guestbook is available online at www.vaughanfh.com.
