Thelma M. Lee, 87, of Spencer, West Virginia formerly of Clay, West Virginia and Logan, West Virginia died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at her home after an extended illness.

She was born May 2, 1931 in Matewan, West Virginia a daughter of the late Charles F. and Goldie Patton Puckett.

Thelma was a lifelong student and educator. She graduated from Logan High School and received her Bachelor's Degree from West Virginia State in Elementary Education. She later attended the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies (COGS) where she received her Master's Degree in Remedial Education. She started her career as a teacher's aide for the Clay County School Systems, then became a teacher at Clay Elementary and later retired as a teacher for the West Virginia Rehabilitation Center in Adult Education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer.

Thelma is survived by one son, Charles W. Lee of Spencer; five grandchildren, James Christopher (JC) Lee of Ripley, West Virginia, and Kimberly Lee, Taylor Lee, Tyler Lee and Adalynn "Addie" Lee, all of Spencer; and three great-grandchildren, Macy Lee and Caden and Clay Cottrell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2012, Harold A. Lee, West Virginia State Police, Retired. Also proceeding her were her siblings, Edward and Phillip Puckett, Pearl "Bo" Jordan, Margaret "Sissy" Gresham, Edna "Chey" Maynard, and an infant, Russell Addison Lee.

Service will be at 3:00pm Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with Rev. Mark Wood and George Chandler officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Thursday. Per her request, the body will then be cremated with burial at a later date in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, West Virginia.
