GRANTSVILE GETS $4 MILLION GRANTS AND LOANS FOR WATER-WASTEWATER IMPROVEMENTS

(10/04/2018)
The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture's (USDA) Office of Rural Development has announced a grant of $2,400,000 and a $1,768,000 loan for the Town of Grantsville for water and wastewater improvements.

In an earlier announcement, Gov. Jim Justice announced a $1,000,000 Appalachian Regional Commission grant for the Town of Grantsville's water treatment plant improvements. The plant and system are suffering from inadequate storage capacity and plant operating deficiencies.

The work includes upgrading parts of the water treatment plant and constructing a new and larger water storage tank. The project will serve 1,550 existing customers.

The projects are based on news releases from federal and state officials.

The Town of Grantsville did not respond to numerous requests to clarify these projects, which appear to total $4,168,000.
