Lois E (Kerns) Cottrell, 74, of Elizabeth WV

Lois E (Kerns) Cottrell, 74, of Elizabeth WV passed away Sept 27, 2018 at Camden Clark Medical Center.

She was born in Ritchie County the daughter of the late Delbert and Chloe (Williams) Kerns.

She was a 1961 graduate of Cario High School, worked for several years for the Wirt County Board of Education and volunteered later in life for the school system.

Lois enjoyed genealogy, gardening, reading, bird watching, working with "her kids" at school and most of all loved her grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Stanley Cottrell, daughter Vicki (Bud) Cheuvront and son Mark (Melody) Cottrell, all of Elizabeth.

Grandchildren: Jennifer (Joe) Cheuvront, and JD Cheuvront, all of South Carolina, Cortney (Tony) Cottrell- Brunicardi of Morgantown WV, Stephen Cottrell of Pittsburgh PA, Julia Cottrell of Marietta Ohio, and Cameron and Zachary Cottrell, both of Elizabeth, WV. Also two step-grandchildren Ashley Garner of Morgantown and Josh Runyon of Belpre Ohio.

Surviving, a brother Gail (Vicky) Kerns of Harrisville, two sisters Sharon Cottrell of Petroleum and Sharlene (Donnie) Dodd of Pullman, several nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom she loved dearly.

In addition to both her parents, Lois is preceded in death by a son Stephen Cottrell, a grandchild Simmone. two brothers Roydice and Bruce Monroe, and a sister Eileen Border.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no services at this time, the family will hold a Memorial service at a later date. The family would like to extend a special Thank you to Joy Jenkins for such loving care of Lois. Also to Home Health Housecalls and her nurse Kim for all the help and concerns, and to Chris Matheney for her help and concern.

Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV assisted the family.
