David W. Cooper, 74, of Spencer

David W. Cooper, born August 1, 1944, died at CAMC Memorial Hospital, September 27, 2018.

He was the son of the late Carl W. and Mabel Price Cooper. David was born in Spencer and graduated from Spencer High School.

David worked at Kellwood Company and Dependable Pipe and Supply before becoming co-owner with his wife of Coopers Flowers and Gifts for 22 years, before retiring.

He loved spending time with family and friends; friends he always considered family. David enjoyed working with the boosters for both Spencer and Roane county High Schools. He was a charter member of the RCHS Raiders Athletic Club.

Dave was a member and attended Faith Baptist Church, Spencer.

Survivors include his wife of almost 40 years, Martha Cooper; two sons, Matthew Cooper and Jimmy Mitchell; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; brother, Steven Cooper; nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 30 at the Faith Baptist Church, Spencer, with Pastor Justin Simmons and James Hamric officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Helping Hands, P.O. Box 576, Spencer, WV 25276.
