MAN IN CUSTODY AFTER ROANE DEPUTY ALMOST STRUCK BY STOLEN TRUCK - Officer Fires Gun

9/26/2018 - An Elkview man is in custody after a Roane County Sheriff's Deputy was almost hit by a stolen truck.

25-year-old Joseph Taylor is facing a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle, a matte gray Dodge truck was stolen in Roane County earlier this week.

Police say that the truck was located in the Elkview area by the Roane County Sheriff's Office.

The truck tried to run over a deputy and the deputy then fired on the truck. The man driving the truck managed to escape.

The pickup truck was found beside a residential garage, riddled with bullet holes in Pinch, WV.

Residents were suspicious of the truck and called 9-1-1 with Kanawha County deputies responding to the scene early Wednesday morning.

The suspect wasn't insight, however, one man dressed in red shorts, a white T-shirt, who was barefoot, was seen standing at the treeline.

Once spotted, he fled on foot. Deputies continued the search, and with the help of a K-9, was able to pick up Taylor's scent and sniff him out.

The suspect was found hiding underneath a house some distance away.
