| Dominion Energy is encouraging nonprofit organizations to apply for grants of up to $25,000 each to meet critical community needs.
For the fourth year, the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation has pledged $1 million to help meet needs for food, housing, medicine or medical services.
"Whether it's food for homebound seniors, shelter for homeless families or free dental check-ups, the need for basic necessities is great in many communities," said Hunter A. Applewhite, president of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. "These grants are designed to support organizations that provide greater stability and a better life for people in need."
Last year's grants helped 160 nonprofits provide essential services, such as Operation Warm received funding to provide new winter coats to West Virginia schoolchildren in need.
On-line applications will be accepted until Oct. 5.
Priority will be given to organizations that demonstrate the ability to serve communities through partnerships and have a proven track record of meeting basic human needs and preventing future needs.
