A Braxton County man is behind bars after troopers found child pornography on his cell phone.

Daniel Lipps, 34, of Gassaway, is charged with distributing and exhibiting material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, West Virginia State Police responded to a call of a man being passed out in a vehicle on Sugar Camp Road in Gassaway Saturday.

Troopers say they found Lipps in the vehicle. They were able to get him out and got verbal consent to search his car.

They say they found electronic devices with substantial amounts of child pornography.

Investigators say Lipps told troopers he was a registered sex offender.

Lipps was arrested and taken to Central Regional Jail.
