MOUTH-WATERING PIT-ROASTED BEEF AND ALL THE FIXIN'S - Mt. Zion Community Park's 59th Ox Roast Saturday

Eager eaters flock to the annual roast

The 59th Annual Mt. Zion Ox Roast will be held Saturday, August 25th, at the Mt. Zion Community Park, Mt. Zion, WV. Serving begins at 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pit-roasted beef sandwich, cole slaw, baked beans, tomato, cake and drink meal is just $8.00 - Individual sandwich is only $5.00.

Included in the festivities are Country Fair exhibits, produce, pies, cakes, canned goods, crafts, and local non-food vendors. The annual auction will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Everyone is invited to come out to eat, meet, and greet family and friends at this annual event.

Pit Master David Weaver says, "The Mt Zion Ox Roast is our major fundraiser for the year. We maintain the park and plan improvements with volunteer efforts. If you use the park for family reunions, playing ball, or to just stop by and enjoy the park, we need your help!"

"We will start the week off on Monday August 20 9:00 a.m., to clean the pit. On Friday morning, August 24th we will start the fire at 6:00 a.m. and it will need tended and stoked through out the day. Between 5 and 6:00 p.m. we will meet to cut and wrap the meat and place it in the pit. We cheerfully welcome all volunteers," said Weaver.

Also anyone that has firewood that you would donate to the Mt. Zion Community Park, please drop it off before Friday, Aug. 24th. or let us know and we can arrange to pick it up. Prefer oak, hickory, apple, cherry or some other hardwood.
