M. Scott Gibson, 80, of Flatwoods

A longtime Braxton and Clay County funeral director, M. Scott Gibson, 80, of Flatwoods, WV passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Bellaire at Devonshire assisted living facility in Scott Depot, WV. He owned and operated the Stockert-Gibson Funeral Home in Flatwoods from 1972 until his health declined. He graduated from Clay County High School, attended Glenville State College where he attended Cincinnati College and Mortuary Science. He was a longtime member of the West Virginia Funeral Director Association. He spent many years at the Carl Wilson Funeral Home, in Clay County, and was a member of the Strange Creek Masonic AF and AM Lodge #130, was a past Director of the City National Banks. Family will receive friends Sunday, August 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stockert-Gibson-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621. Funeral Service will immediately follow in the Stockert-Gibson-Paletti Funeral Home at 4 p.m. with the Reverend Sheila Baughman officiating.
