During the fifth week of Summer Boost Express, students and mentors celebrated Community week.

The mentors read the take-home books Swimmy and The Three Questions. In writing, the children wrote poems and their favorite traits about their community.

In art, groups made community service member dolls, used borax to make play slime, and joined together to paint their very own flower pots. (see above)

In the afternoon, mentors and students continued doing GIRP, building things with legos in STEM, and practicing area and perimeter in Math. In nutrition, we welcomed back Nancy Bremer and Tina Persinger to give a nutrition lesson and pass out produce to the children. Nancy brought homemade vegetable dip, along with cucumbers, carrots, and celery for the kids to try.

Friday, was a field trip to the Clay Center, where students explored the different galaxies and watched a film in the Planetarium.

Excitement is building for the last week of Energy Express, 'Making Our World a Better Place.'
