Last week, Summer Boost Express had their best week yet! The theme for last week was Homeplace week.

In honor of Homeplace week, the mentors read two take home books, Sarah Plain and Tall, and The Mitten. During writing, the students wrote stories about their homes, some included how many times they have moved and how many homes they have lived in.

In art, they painted boxes to replicate their own homes and made dream catchers. Friday, July 13th, was Energy Express' annual Open House. This allowed mentors to meet the families of the students and they got to see what their child does everyday during the summer. The kids also put on a special play for their families. After the play, parents and family were encouraged to stay and eat lunch with their child.

In the afternoon, the mentors continued doing GIRP, building things with legos in STEM, and practicing area and perimeter in Math. In nutrition, Nancy Bremer and Tina Persinger were welcomed back to give a nutrition lesson and pass out produce to the children.

Fun Friday was celebrated with a Water Day, featuring water slides, water balloon tosses, and Popsicles.

Reminder Field trips: Friday, July 20th to the Clay Center, we will return around 6:30 and Tuesday, July 24th, to North Bend State Park, returning around 7:30.
