Ronald K. Taylor, 75, of Newton

Ronald K. Taylor, 75, of Newton, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018, at home after an extended illness.

He was born December 6, 1942 at Charleston, a son of the late Cecil C. and Cleo G. Hensley Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Allan K. Taylor.

Ron was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the I.U.O.E., Local 132 and the UMWA, District 17. He was a member of the Newton United Methodist Church, Newton, a 50 year member of the Linden Lodge No. 83, AF & AM, Linden, and a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed restoring and driving classic cars.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Kathryn S. "Billie" Nester Taylor; son and daughter-in-law, R.K. and Marilyn Taylor, II of Newton; grandchildren, Colter Taylor, DDS and Cassidy Taylor both of Newton; brother, Cecil C. Taylor, Jr. of Dumfries, Va.; a special nephew, Ariel Taylor of Eleanor; several other nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1 at the Newton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stewart Cottrell and Preacher Philip Linger officiating. Burial, with Masonic graveside rites, will be in the Laurel Point Cemetery, Newton. Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.

The visitation will be one hour before the service Sunday at the church.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
