SCHOOL NURSE EXPLAINS 2018 STUDENT HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

As part of a four-year phase-in plan for student health, It is a recommendation from the state that all new entrees, PK/K, 2nd, 7th and now seniors have a dental exam as well as a well-child checks.

Trudi Anderson, RN BSN CSN, Calhoun County School Nurse, says "These can be accepted from a previous visit as long as it is dated no more than one year prior to the start of school."

"They can also be completed 45 days after the start of the new school year. Although this is a recommendation, it is not a requirement for a student to start school."

Immunizations, on the other hand, must be up to date and is a requirement to be able to attend school.
