Charles D. Ellis, 77, of Spencer, West Virginia died June 11, 2018 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia.

He was born January 6, 1941 in Linden, West Virginia a son of the late Delmer Lee and Dorma Young Ellis. He was a retired maintenance supervisor from Armicell in Spencer with over 46 years of service and also started Ellis Machine Work.

Charles could fabricate and fix everything. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Newton, West Virginia where he served as a deacon, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Waggoner Ellis; two daughters, Cheryl Ellis and Teresa (Buddy) Armstead, both of Spencer; one brother, Denver Lee Ellis of Cumming, Georgia; three grandchildren, Trey (Sarah) Armstead of Spencer, Brittany (Jesse) Lipscomb of Elkview, West Virginia, and Zach Armstead, also of Spencer; and three great-grandchildren, Kadence Armstead, and Zia and Quinn Lipscomb.

Service will be 1:00 pm Friday, June 15, 2018 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with Rev. Roy Huffman officiating assisted by Charles's brother, Denver. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery near Spencer. Visiting hours are from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
