BROADBAND PROMISES. BROADBAND DREAMS - Microsoft Bringing Broadband Project To State

By Bob Weaver West Virginia remains near the bottom in the USA with real broadband, many initiatives going to the wayside. Calhoun has recently partnered with Clay and Roane for a public-private broadband initiative. West Virginia is among the states Microsoft is targeting for a rural broadband expansion initiative the company debuted last year. Microsoft will launch at least one broadband project in the state through its "Rural Airband Initiative" by partnering and providing funding for an internet service provider. Where that will be has yet to be announced. The company is willing to work with either larger providers or smaller, local providers for these projects.
