NEW CALHOUN AMBULANCE SERVICE LAUNCHED JUNE 1

(06/03/2018)
Calhoun's new Emergency Ambulance Service opened on June 1, according to acting director Julie Sears, Calhoun 911-OES Director.

This new service was made possible with the passage of an emergency services levy in May, which saw a slight increase in taxes.

Minnie Hamilton pulled out of providing county ambulance service, saying they were unable to finance the operation.

The Calhoun County Commissioners along with Calhoun EMS Inc. and Board members Ron Blankenship, Bruce Fitzwater, Gary Knight, Michael Hicks and Acting Director Sears, indicted considerable work has gone into launching the service.

"Unfortunately, the station at Millstone was substantially damaged in the flash flood a week ago, but Arnoldsburg resident Judy Knotts has offered the use of her property in downtown Arnoldsburg," said Sears.

She said the station be manned 24 hours a day by county crews and a second crew will be available during high volume call times for transports as well as back-up 911 response when needed.

"Residents will still see the professional service that they expect and can use the same 9-1-1 contact for emergencies," Sears concluded.
