APPALACHIAN CLASSIC GEARING FOR 2003 - Volunteers Really Needed

There will be an organizational meeting for the bike race on Tuesday, January 21st, at Calhoun County High School - Maggie Bennett's room - at 6 p.m.

Anyone interested in helping out - in any way - is urged to attend!

This year's race will be June 7th & 8th - a Middle School/High School race will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, with the ever popular POND JUMP starting around 4 p.m. Our concert will not be held at the park this year - we bow to the Wood Festival's concert at Underwood Field! On Sunday, June 8th, the Kid's Races will start at 10 a.m., and the feature race will begin at noon.

We will need volunteers to prepare the trails, hand out water, stand along the trail and report, register racers, and just help out in general. Any crafts people who wish to display their wares are also welcome.

The race will coincide with the Wood Festival this year, due to the scheduling of the National NORBA Bike Races at Snowshoe on our regular Father's Day Weekend. We hope that joining these two events will make both even better events this year.

So please, come to the meeting next Tuesday, and lend a hand.

For more information, please contact Jim Bennett at 354-6588 or Diann Clothier at 655-7561.
