HEAVY FLOODING STRIKES MILLSTONE AREA

(05/23/2018)

Heavy flooding struck the Millstone area early Wednesday morning about 1 a.m., with houses and garages flooded, trees down and mudslides.

A large amount of rain fell for about 30 minutes in the Millstone and other adjacent areas.

At 6:30 a.m. there was still heavy debris on the highway between Millstone and Arnoldsburg.

The NWS had earlier issued a Flash Flood Warning for Calhoun and the regional county area.

The Minnie Hamilton EMS station at Millstone was flooded and was evacuated.

A heavy amount of debris including propane tanks came down the stream.

An assessment of damage to homes, garages and outbuildings could not be made during the darkness.

Numerous roads around the county are blocked by water, downed trees and rock slides.
