GILMER MAN ARRESTED AFTER ALLEGEDLY BITING DNR OFFICER

A Gilmer County man was arrested after he allegedly bit a Natural Resources Policeman on the inner thigh.

William Shane Rose of Cox's Mills was charged with malicious assault, a felony. He was also charged with misdemeanors, including obstructing, two counts of battery on an officer, two counts of assault on an officer, two counts of false reporting of an emergency and obstructing a Natural Resources Police officer.

According to records in Gilmer Magistrate Court. at 9:15 a.m. on April 8, Rose called the Gilmer/Lewis 911 Center two times. The first time he reportedly was shouting obscenities and yelling "hit him again." During a second call to the 911 center, Rose allegedly barked like a dog. The biting incident allegedly occurred when the officer, whose name was not reported, encountered Rose at his residence.
