Kenneth Daniel Landis age 50 of Steer Run Road, Normantown, WV departed this life peacefully in early evening hours of Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at his residence. Born December 27, 1967 in Elyria, Ohio Kenneth is the son of Barbara Moss Jones and husband William Lyda of Normantown and the late John Daniel Landis.Kenneth is a graduate of Gilmer County High School, class of 1986. He was a crane operator for Weyerhaeuser and had 18 years experience with the company. In his younger days, Kenneth was also a heavy equipment operator in the timber industry. In his spare time, Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, riding ATV's and watching basketball. He especially loved spending time with his son Jesse, and living the quiet life in Normantown. On January 11, 2002 he was united in marriage to Lisa Meadows Landis who survives at their Steer Run Road home. Along with his loving wife, Kenneth is survived by his son, Jesse Daniel Landis of Normantown, 1 step daughter, Kari Sprouse (Brian) of Grass Run Road, Normantown, 3 step-brothers, Billy Jones (Dawna) of Orlando, WV, Jerry Jones (Rebecca) of Wallace, WV, and Tommy Jones of Folson, WV, and 1 step-sister, Patty McDaniel (Lynn) of Folson, WV. Along with his father, Kenneth is preceded in death by his grandparents, and numerous Aunts, Uncles, and other family members. A funeral service will be conducted at the Upper Steer Run Baptist Church at 11:00 am, Saturday May 12, 2018 with Pastor Roger Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Upper Steer Run Baptist Church Cemetery near the church. Friends will be received from 5-8 pm Friday May 11, 2018 at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc in Glenville. Ellyson Mortuary, Inc is honored to assist the family of Kenneth Daniel Landis with arrangements.
