STATE RESERVISTS PACKING IT UP - Call Up May Last A Year

(01/15/2003)
Army Reserve troops from Cross Lanes and Clarksburg are packing up and getting ready for a possible war.

Fifty-three members of the 38th Ordinance Army Reserve group from Cross Lanes, along with 183 members of the 459th Engineering Company in Clarksburg, are leaving this weekend.

Colonel Lew Tyree says they'll be sent to an undisclosed location in Asia, focusing on ammunition support and bridge-building.

About a dozen reservists from Elkins and another 30 or so from Kingwood left yesterday for Philadelphia.

Reservists from the 646th were deployed from Morgantown last week to the 300th Chemical Company.

The troops are being told to expect to be gone for up to a year.

These reservists are joining others who have already been called.
