William H. Snider, 81 of Walker

William H. Snider, 81 of Walker, WV passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his residence.

He was born November 5, 1936 in Calhoun County, WV, a son of the late Icel and Mildred Eagle Snider. He joined the US Army in 1956. He joined the National Guard in 1961, attended OCS in 1967 and served with the 1092nd Engineering Battalion for over 25 years, retiring as a major. He retired from E.I. DuPont with 40 years of service. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and neighbor and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Bill was a NRA Benefactor member, a member of the Cast Bullet Association and the Single Shot Rifle Association. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking.

Bill is survived by his wife of 14 years, Trudy Leimbach Snider; his children, Bill Snider (Brenda) of Parkersburg, Dan Snider (Lindsay), Barbara Nichols (Jason) and B.J. Galloway (Tony) all of Walker; a brother, Adrain "Shag" Snider of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Kristina Davis (Mat) and Erik Snider, Kyle Snider, Mason and Aiden Snider, Jared & Mikala Nichols, and Kadren and Kaleb Galloway; one great-grandchild, Lyla Davis; two nieces, Bridget and Brenda; one nephew, Brent; and best friend, Wes Cline whom he met in the military in 1965.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Eva Snider; and his son, Dr. Karl Snider.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Green St Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
