Roberta Jean "Jeannie" Tanner, 57, of Vienna

Roberta Jean "Jeannie" Tanner, 57, of Vienna, WV passed away at her home April 7, 2018.

She was born and raised in Grantsville, WV on March 7 ,1961. She graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1979. While there, she met her high school sweetheart, Virgil Tanner. Jeannie continued her education at WVU-P and graduated cum laude with an Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology before marrying Virgil in 1984. In 2008, she graduated cum laude from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science.

Jeannie worked at the St. Joseph's Hospital Laboratory from 1982 until 2011. She started as a generalist and worked her way up to Hematology/Coagulation Supervisor. In 2012, she became an adjunct professor teaching MLT classes at Washington State Community College. In 2015, she started as a Medical Technologist at the Belpre Campus of Marietta Memorial Health System.

   Survivors include three daughters, Melody, Hayley, and Abby Tanner, all of Vienna, WV; brother Mike Vaughan of Williamstown, WV; two sisters, Caroline Charonko (John) and Susan Myers (Jerry), both of Charleston, WV; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil Tanner; one sister, Patricia Boyd; and her parents, Lloyd and Elva Vaughan of Grantsville, WV.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., 107 Market St, Grantsville, WV with Pastor Tim Davis officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow immediately at Pleasant Hill UMC Cemetery.
