Brenda K. Chadwell, 62, of Spencer

Brenda K. Chadwell, 62, of Spencer, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

She was born April 27, 1955 at Spencer, the daughter of the late Garland W. and H. Lucille Sexton Smith.

Survivors include her husband, of 40 years, Ronald G. Chadwell, whom she married April 23, 1977; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa A. and Brian Davis of Harrisville; two grandchildren, Kylie and Brenden.

Brenda was a devoted teacher and retired principal of the Geary Elementary/Middle School, Left Hand. She was a two time recipient of the Roane County Teacher of the Year Award. Also, she was a member and past president of the W.Va. Reading Association and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.

She earned her M.A. in Leadership Administration from the Marshall University Graduate School and her M.A. in Reading from the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies. Brenda was a 1977 graduate of Glenville State College, Glenville and a 1973 graduate of Spencer High School, Spencer.

Brenda was a member of the Linden Chapter No. 152, Order of the Eastern Star, Linden and the Flat Fork Baptist Church, Looneyville.

In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Philip Linger officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Geary Elementary/Middle School, 9538 Clay Road, Left Hand, WV 25251.
