CLAY, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — West Virginia State Police arrested a man after they say he admitted to shooting a man three times in Clay County.

Jeremy Lynn White, 22, of Lizemores is charged with malicious wounding. Just before midnight on Monday, troopers say they received information from Clay 911 that there had just been a shooting on Post Office Street in Clay. Dispatchers told troopers that the victim, Justin Brown, was on Hartland Road.

When they got to the home on Post Office Street, troopers say White told them that Brown had gotten into a physical altercation with a woman at the home. During the altercation, troopers say White was standing in the street and advised the victim that he had a pistol in his hand. Troopers said Brown then went towards his vehicle, making the comment "Now we getting guns."

White told troopers that when Brown opened the door of the car he fired several shots toward him and hit him three times.

Brown was taken to CAMC General with non-life threatening injuries, troopers said.

White is being held in the Central Regional Jail on a $200,000 bond.
