Mary "Jane" LeRow, 86, of Parkersburg

Mary "Jane" LeRow, 86, of Parkersburg, passed away peacefully, Thursday, March 8, 2018.

She was born August 25, 1931 in Marietta, OH a daughter of the late Floyd and Bernice Edwards. Jane graduated from Tyler County High School in Middlebourne, WV with the class of 1949. She graduated WVU in 1956 with a Masters degree in Extension Services, Home Economics and later received her Associate Professor status.

She began her career as the county Extension Agent serving the communities in and around Calhoun County. In 1967 she transferred to Wood County where she continued her services for the betterment of the communities in and around the county. She additionally assisted with the 4-H program in each location and Wood County Extension Homemakers. She was active in developing local festivals, like the Honey Festival and Parkersburg Homecoming. She sat on the board of directors for many organizations, businesses and programs within and outside of Extension services.

During Jane's professional career she received numerous awards and recognition for her outstanding leadership and dedication to the Extension Service creed. She was additionally recognized by community businesses for their specific programs development. She was a longtime member of several organizations such as Altrusa, Eastern Star of New Martinsville and Civitan. Since residing in Parkersburg she belonged to St. Andrews UMC where she was also active in many programs. She also hosted foreign exchange students on two separate occasions. Jane went on an "extended holiday" January, 1997. Although she took off her Extension Agent hat, she continued to serve the community in her private time doing various volunteer projects.

She enjoyed life and about bringing knowledge to everyone who needed it from every resource available. She was a pie baker, a bread maker and always finding a reason to celebrate family, friends and colleagues.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Rogers and husband Olof Scholten; three nephews, Robert Sheffey, his wife Teresa, daughter Shalamar and family and sons Ed and family, Toby and Joe; John Sheffey, his wife Maria and children, Caroline and family, Sueanne and J.R.; Charles Sheffey, his wife Debra and daughters, Natalie and family and Allison.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jim LeRow; her sister, Patricia Sheffey; her two brothers, William and John Edwards; nephew, William David Sheffey; aunts, Fay Kirchner and Helen Edwards Hall; and uncle, Grant Edwards.

A memorial celebration with Reverend Kathryn (Kat) Hawbaker officiating, will be held March 24, 2018 at the Blennerhassett Hotel, Parkersburg from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
