Daniel Lawrence Smith, 68, of Orma

Daniel Lawrence Smith, 68, of Orma, WV died March 15, 2018 at his home.

Daniel was born April 10, 1949 and is preceded in death by his parents Ruby (Houchin) and Lawrence Smith; a daughter Jamie Smith; and father-in-law, Lester Metheney.

He is a United States Marine who served in Vietnam and a two-time Purple Heart recipient. After the Marine Corps, Daniel's career focused on construction. Over a five decades period, he worked his way up from a laborer to numerous superintendent jobs and pipeline inspector. The preponderance of his career was with the Highway Paving Company. He was also a member of Beech United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Smith, their three children, Jennifer (Jeff) Sarratori, Cara (Brian) Greene, and Jason (Kristin) Smith who have blessed Daniel and Kathy with nine wonderful grandchildren. Daniel is remembered as the World's Best Husband, Father, and PaPaw. He always put his family and friends first. He will be missed greatly and forever in our hearts.

A one day service will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg WV on Monday, March 19, 2018. Visitation hours will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm and the funeral will begin at 2:00 pm with Reverend Rick Metheney officiating. Interment will be at the Smith's Cemetery.
