ROARING WIND DOWNS TREES - VFDs Called For Removal, Vehicle Crashes On Rt. 16

3-1-2018 8 PM - Roaring winds mostly at high elevations are sweeping across Calhoun Thursday night, with some 40 plus mph gusts downing trees and causing some electric service disruptions.

The power company reported 100 outages in Calhoun and about 15,000 in WV.

The Grantsville VFD was called for tree removal at numerous locations.

Trees were reported down across Rt. 16, Rt. 5 east and west, Norman Ridge and numerous other locations.

The Upper West Fork VFD reported trees down along the Upper West Fork.

At 12:30 a.m. Friday the Upper West Fork VFD responded to a single vehicle crash in the Orma-Minnora area, the vehicle rolling over on Rt. 16, blocking the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Deputy Sheriff Jason Elkins was investigating.
