Virginia M. Buzzard, 92, of Newton

Virginia M. Buzzard, 92, of Newton, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at the Clay Health Care Center, Ivydale, after an extended illness.

She was born April 6, 1925 in Nicholas County, a daughter of the late Robert Spence and Maggie Gibson Spence Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carl Buzzard; infant daughter, Linda Buzzard; sister, Marie Long; brother, Jack Spence.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Kermit and Kelli Buzzard of Middleport, Ohio and Jackie and Sharon Buzzard of Ronceverte; daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Ronnie Batten of Newton and Nena and Bill Capehart of Rutland, Ohio; ten grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

She was a retired 20 year employee of Roane General Hospital and had attended the Newton Baptist Church, Newton.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Randy Stanley officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wallback. Visitation will be from noon until 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
