TEACHERS, SERVICE PERSONNEL AND STATE EMPLOYEES DEMONSTRATE OVER WAGES-BENEFITS IN GRANTSVILLE AND ARNOLDSBURG - State Officials Say Strike "Imminent"

Calhoun teachers, service personnel and other state employees demonstrated today at Grantsville and Arnoldsburg over wages and benefits, with state officials saying a strike is "imminent."

An early morning rally before school on the Grantsville bridge drew a large number of participants with signs, seeking public support.

There will be additional Walk-In Rallies at 4-5 p.m. today in Arnoldsburg along US 33-119 at the laundromat, and on the Grantsville Bridge.

West Virginia teachers are among the lowest paid in the USA. The last teachers strike in the Mountain State was in 1990.
