PROSECUTOR'S FULLTIME SALARY LEVY WOULD COST TAXPAYERS A FEW BUCKS

While there is plenty of hubris around Calhoun Prosecutors full-time salary, the levy that will be on the ballot is $54,694.05, meaning a small amount of money to county taxpayers if they approve it.

The Calhoun Commission separated the salary amount from the Emergency Services Levy, which is also on the May ballot, after a crisis to financially provide public ambulance service to the county.

The commission, over several years, has struggled to come up with operating funds, the county having among the lowest taxes in WV.

Under state code the county is now required to hire a full-time prosecutor.

If the levy fails, Calhoun commissioners will have to come up with the amount from a budget that currently does not have funding.

The approximate amount for a full time prosecutor is $ 54,693.05, an amount added to the salary for a part-time which was about $45,000.
