DUNBAR STABBINGS - The two people injured in a stabbing in Dunbar have been identified.

According to Dunbar Police, officers responded to the 400 block of 24th Street for a reported stabbing.

Once at the scene, officers located a man laying in the roadway with multiple stab wounds.

While an officer stayed with this subject another officer went and secured the residence where the incident took place.

At the residence, officers discovered the resident with a laceration to the hand as well.

Once the investigation commenced, it was determined that the subject found in the roadway, Jim Melton 29 of South Charleston, had went to the residence to confront the resident, Justin Thomas 37 of Dunbar, over a previous disagreement.

During the confrontation, Melton forced entry into the residence and attacked Thomas.

During the fight Melton was stabbed multiple times to the upper body. Thomas received an injury to his hand during the fight as well.

Melton was transported to CAMC General for treatment of his wounds, Thomas refused transport.

This investigation is ongoing.
