Alfred Landon "Pete" Nichols, Sr. 81, of Otto, West Virginia died February 5, 2018 at Charleston Area Medical Center's Memorial Division.

Pete was born August 3, 1936 in Otto, West Virginia a son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Rebecca Ray Nichols. He was a longtime logger and timberman and was a mechanic that could work on anything. He loved to build and show hit&miss engines and was a US Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Hosey Nichols; a son and daughter-in-law, William Eric "Billy" and Marsha Nichols of Otto; three grandchildren, Travis, Kaylee and Samantha Nichols; and a few great-grandchildren. Pete was from a large family including brothers, Seldon, Norville, Wellington and Burl Nichols; and sisters, Roberta Barnhouse, Ethel Nichols, Betty Longworth and Belva Smith. He was preceded in death by a son, Alfred Landon "Little Pete" Nichols, Jr. in 2012.

Per Pete's request the body was cremated and there will be no service or visitation. TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, West Virginia is in charge of arrangements.
