ST. ALBANS STABBING - Kanawha County deputies said a St. Albans man is accused of stabbing his brother during an altercation.

Mark C. Clevinger, 56, is charged with malicious wounding after an incident Wednesday at a residence on Central Avenue in St. Albans, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Deputies responded to the residence for a medical call involving a male and female bleeding. Benjamin Clevinger Jr., who is visually impaired, had a large laceration to his abdomen and was bleeding. Violet Clevinger, the mother of the two men, had a laceration to her forearm.

The complaint said the mother heard her two sons arguing and went in to check on them. When she went into Mark Clevinger's room, she said, she saw Mark standing over Benjamin, who was bleeding from the abdomen. She said she asked Mark how it happened, and he didn't respond.

Violet Clevinger claimed she was unsure how she got cut while she was in the room, the complaint said. Both Violet and Mark Clevinger were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Deputies said they found a large amount of blood on the floor, and a hunting knife beside Mark's bed.

Mark Clevinger was detained and transported to headquarters. Deputies said he had what appeared to be blood in his hands, shirt, face and jeans. He had a knot on the right side of his head. Investigators said they wanted to talk to him about the incident with his brother, and they gave him his Miranda rights. They said he then spontaneously said Benjamin "shouldn't have been beating on him."

Clevinger is currently being held in South Central Regional Jail on $25,000 bond or 10 percent cash.

MAN STEALS VEHICLE AT GUNPOINT - The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office is searching for a Chapmanville man who they say carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint and later fled from police.

Robbie Aaron Browning, 29 of Chapmanville, was reported to have carjacked a Chevrolet Silverado at gunpoint at the Speedway in Chapmanville, a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office said.

About 9:15 p.m. Thursday, Metro 911 issued a statement for police and deputies to be on the lookout for the vehicle. Law enforcement learned the Silverado was traveling to the Charleston area. About 10:30 p.m., deputies spotted the vehicle near the McDonald's restaurant at 3303 MacCorkle Avenue in Kanawha City.

He was apprehended.
