Richard Burl Postalwait, 78, of Grantsville

Richard Burl Postalwait, 78, of Grantsville, Calhoun County WV died January 6, 2018 after a short struggle with cancer.

He was born October 28, 1939 to and preceded in death by Orville & Olga (Boggs) Postalwait at Stinson, WV. He was a member of Cortland Lodge #529 F&AM. He enlisted in the Army in 1956 and upon Honorable discharge he worked in the automotive industry. He was a proud member of UAW 1112, retiring from General Motors. Burl spent his retirement years working full time as a 911 dispatcher. He enjoyed fishing bass tournaments and attending basket bingo.

He is survived by his son Richard G. Postalwait and daughter-in-law Debbie A. Postalwait of Calhoun County, West Virginia, and his son Kevin B. Postalwait of Ripley, West Virginia; and his sister Betty Price of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia.

Burl was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn J. (McCartney) Postalwait, his brother Blaine Postalwait, his brother-in-law Richard Price.

Burl maintained a close relationship to his wife's family after her death including Robert J. "Tink" and Virginia Erlewine; Orlen G. and Linda McCartney; Charles and Patricia Bollinger; and their children and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Rick Metheney officiating followed by Masonic Funeral Grand Honors at the Mt. Zion UMC Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
