ELKINS MURDER-SUICIDE - State Police say a bloody scene discovered Monday morning when an Elkins business owner opened up for the day was the result of a murder-suicide.

A 36-year old man who worked at Novus Auto Glass and his 23-year old girlfriend were found dead by the owner around 8:20 a.m. Monday according to investigators, reportedly gunshot victims.

"Initial investigation it appears the two had been involved in some type of domestic violence altercation," said Sgt. Michael Anderson of the West Virginia State Police." As a result, he killed her and then killed himself."

The names of the victims were not immediately released pending the notification of the next of kin. Anderson said one of the victims lived out of the area.

HOMELESS MAN ATTEMPTS STABBING - A homeless man is facing a felony charge after being arrested at a Charleston hospital Sunday morning.

Court records allege that Brandon Quihuis, 25, tried to stab another man, who is a guard at the hospital, early Sunday morning.

According to multiple sources, there was a disturbance around 12:45 a.m. in the emergency room at CAMC General.

According to a spokesperson with CAMC, Quihuis came into the emergency room and asked for treatment. The incident happened while he was listed as a patient.

Police say Quihuis was in one of the emergency rooms and was going to be released. That is when police say he created a disturbance and when security showed up, pulled out a knife and tried to lunge at them.

Several guards disarmed Quihuis until police arrived, officers say.

WVU FOOTBALL PLAYER CHARGED WITH FIREARM ON SCHOOL PROPERTY - A WVU football player and former South Charleston High School standout was cited Saturday night for having a firearm at a high school basketball game, police said.

Derek Pitts, 19, was cited for having a concealed weapon on school property while being under the age of 21 at about 7 p.m. Saturday at George Washington High School, according to police. He was found with the gun in the school's parking lot.

Pitts was attending a George Washington, South Charleston basketball game.

Pitts was a football standout at South Charleston before choosing to go to Penn State. He later rescinded his commitment from Penn State and chose WVU. Pitts, the top-ranked recruit in the West Virginia class of 2016, was highly sought after and also received offers from Arizona, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Louisville, Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina State, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.

While at South Charleston, Pitts won the Carl Lee Award for the top defensive back in West Virginia and was named the West Virginia All-State First Team.

A large number of WV legislators want to allow open carry in WV schools and on school grounds, supported by the NRA, including the arming of teachers.

WOMAN STABS BROTHER WITH KITCHEN KNIFE - A 22-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her 20-year-old brother in the side with a kitchen knife Friday evening, according to Kanawha Sheriff's Sgt. Brian Humphreys.

The man, Michael Anthony Armes-Yates, was taken to a local hospital and was conscious during the trip, Humphreys said.

The woman, Kylnn Marie Yates, was arrested and charged with malicious assault. She was arraigned later Friday evening.

Humphreys said the stabbing occurred in a kitchen on Meadowbrook Drive, which is near Coonskin Park.

KNIFE HOLD-UP - The Huntington Police Department is hoping to identify a man involved in the armed robbery of a convenience store.

Police said a man robbed the Piedmont Pantry located on the city's West End on Thursday.

Police said the man showed a pocketknife, demanded money and left the store with cash. There were no injuries reported.

MU FOOTBALL PLAYER SHOT, PARALYZED - Police in Maryland are offering up to $10,000 for information about a shooting that paralyzed a MU college football player and injured a 17-year-old.

The Capital Gazette reported Friday that the shooting occurred at a New Year's Eve party in Severn, which is south of Baltimore.

Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, confirmed that football player Larry Aaron was shot. The 19-year-old is redshirt freshman defensive tackle at the university.

His mother, Melissa Aaron, told The Herald-Dispatch in Huntington that her son was left paralyzed by the shooting after the bullet became lodged in his spine. Aaron is from Columbia, Maryland.
