UPDATE: DRIVER SUFFERS WINTER WRATH AFTER TRUCK CRASH

(12/31/2017)

A single vehicle wreck on Nicut Road is a reminder of the dangers of accidents in the backwoods of Calhoun.

The truck driver, Andrew Arthur, 29, was coming home from work hit black ice about 2:30 a.m. Saturday and plunged over a steep hillside near the Bear Run intersection, rolling over four times.

The driver, who suffered minor injuries, managed to extract himself and walk three miles to his residence on Frozen Run.

The driver said he was unable to wake homeowners at that time of the morning to call 911.

Drivers should carry extra clothing, jackets, socks, head gear and gloves in their vehicles this time of year.
