GREATEST GENERATION: Sgt. 1st Class Lora Don Freshour, 85, Has Passed

Lora Don Freshour, 85, of Reedy, formerly of Hur, has passed.

A Korean War soldier, he was a proud 20-year retired veteran of the U.S. Army. As a Sergeant First Class E-7, honorably discharged, he had a distinguished service record, being awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Air Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

Freshour served two tours of duty in Viet Nam, after serving in Korea. As a civilian, he worked in maintenance for the WV Department of Highways. He was a former Health Services Worker for the Spencer State Hospital and retired from his civilian work career with Westbrook Health Services where he loved working with his clients at their group home.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation Inc., Grantsville, WV on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Hur Cemetery with full military honors.
