TWO BRAXTON RESIDENTS FACE CHILD NEGLECT CHARGES

In Braxton County, Amanda Barnett is charged with three counts of child neglect creating risk of injury, while Pliant Smith also is facing child neglect. Troopers said they found methamphetamine in a home where three children were present. Pliant Smith is also facing possession with the intent to deliver meth, according to criminal complaints filed in Braxton County Magistrate Court. Troopers say they responded to a home in Gassaway over the weekend after getting calls. Inside, they said they found more than $1,000 worth of meth on an open plate in an area to which children had access. Troopers said more arrests are expected.
