BODY DISCOVERED IN GRANNIES CREEK-PIGEON AREA OF ROANE - Crime Lab Being Summoned

Law enforcement in Roane County is investigating a suspicious death in Geary District, the Grannies Creek-Pigeon area, where a male body was discovered near a vehicle Saturday. The Roane County Sheriff's Department has requested a crime lab investigation. Roane County EMS and the Newton VFD was dispatched to the remote area shortly after 1 p.m. Saturday, with a 911 call indicating a car accident. A fire department spokesperson said "It was no car accident." A source at the scene said the man was either beaten of shot.
