FORMER POLICEMAN DIES AT CRESTON - Randy Barnette 1961-2003

Creston resident and 10-year veteran of the Marietta Police Department, Randall W. "Randy" Barnette, 41, died Jan. 3, 2003 at his residence after a battle with brain cancer.

He was a 1979 graduate of PSHS, and a 1995 honor graduate from Washington State Community College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was born June 11, 1961, in Parkersburg, a son of Alan and Betty Barnette of Orlando, Fla. and Juanita and Tony Castanon of Coal City, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife and caregiver, Linda L. Moats Barnette of Creston.

Also three brothers, Alan Barnette Jr. and his wife, Rochelle of Sophia, W.Va., John Barnette and his wife, Barbara of Orlando, Fla. Scott Barnette and his wife, Mary of Vienna; one sister, Kay Barnette of Kansas City, Mo.; seven nephews; and four nieces; and special family, Eric and Catherine Linder of Creston.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Matt Hornbeck officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery South, with military graveside services by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
