16-YEAR-OLD BIG SPRINGS BOY FOUND IN GRANTSVILLE - Youth Spotted At Foodland Supermarket

9/21/2017 - A 16-year-old boy missing from his residence on Wlliams Road since Tuesday morning was discovered at Grantsville's Foodland store about 11 a.m. Thursday.

Grantsville Police Chief Craig Gherke had the youth in custody and he was being returned to his parents.

Authorities indicated that Childrens Protective Services were being contacted.

9-20-2017 - Calhoun responders have been searching the woods since Tuesday for a missing 16-year-old boy in the Williams Road section of Calhoun, near Big Springs.

The youth failed to board the school bus Tuesday morning, responders said, after which an alert was issued.

He reportedly walked away with camping equipment and food.

Responders have been combing the roads, woods and hunting cabins on UTVs and ATVs in the greater Big Springs area.

A report said the youth stopped at a Five Forks store just before noon Wednesday, but then disappeared.

The WV State Police, Calhoun Sheriffs Department and the Grantsville VFD participated in the search.
