FIRST REPORT: BRAXTON MAN SHOT AND KILLED SUNDAY DURING "HOSTAGE SITUATION" - Shooter Yet To Be Charged

(09/16/2017)
By Bob Weaver

State Police have confirmed that Christopher Wine, about 40, of Burnsville was shot to death Sunday at Neville, Braxton County.

The shooting has made the rounds on social media for several days without official comment, or media report.

Police said they were responding to a possible hostage situation when it turned into a shooting call.

Sgt. Mark Yost said one of two men who claimed they were being held against their will got hold of a gun and shot him.

Yost said they know the ID of shooter, but so far no arrest has been made.

He said he expects the case will go to grand jury to determine if it was justified or a crime, saying there was no indication of robbery.

Social media listed at least two names of men associated with the shooting, indicating Wine was life-flighted to hospital where he died.

Several other situations related to the incident have been reported on social media, but they could not be confirmed.
