BRAXTON SCHOOLS OPENING DELAYED - Fire Near Davis Elementary

8/23/2017 - All Braxton County Schools are operating on a two-hour delay Wednesday, due to a structure fire near Davis Elementary School. The Gassaway Fire Department said the fire was in a two-story wood structure across the street from the Davis school. No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries are reported. The fire is under control, although smoke did enter Davis Elementary School, and the school received a little water damage from the responders fighting the fire. The damage has been cleaned up, and the school is ready for the school day.
