MEMORIAL SERVICE TO BE SET FOR SPENCER TEEN KILLED IN ACCIDENT - Traveling To Church Service

A memorial service will be set at a later date for 17-year-old Roane High School student Austin Lee Runnion.

The Spencer youth died in a truck accident, with other family members receiving serious injuries.

Runnion was traveling to church with his family when the wreck happened on State Rt. 14 near Spencer.

8/22/2017 - Sources at the scene of what was likely a single vehicle truck wreck Sunday evening on Rt. 14 near Spencer said a 17-year-old passenger, reportedly unrestricted by seat belt, died in the accident.

He was identified by those sources as Austin Lee Runnion of Colt Ridge, his parents and possibly another person involved in the accident of a Dodge Truck. Officials did not confirm this information.

The youths body was taken to the state medical examiners office.

The accident happened a short distance from the Barcut area on Rt. 14 toward Reedy.

ONE DEAD, MULTIPLE PEOPLE INJURED IN TWO VEHICLE COLLISION ON RT. 14 NEAR SPENCER

8/20/2017 - Reports say that one male is dead in what was reported as a two-vehicle collision on State Rt. 14 just out of Spencer near Barcut.

The accident happened around 6 p.m. Sunday.

Those reports also indicate that at least three other individuals in the crash were critically or seriously injured.

The victims were taken to Roane General Hospital, some being life-flighted to Charleston.

Details of accident not yet available.
