FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR CALHOUN FRIDAY NIGHT

(06/23/2017)
9:40 PM FRIDAY - A Flash Flood WARNING has been issued for Calhoun until 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

ORIGINAL ALERT - A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from 2 am EDT Friday through late Friday night for Calhoun and most WV counties.

Forecasters predict one and a half to three and a half inches of rain is possible across the watch area, with locally heavier amounts, as the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy combine with a cold front dropping in from the northwest.

The heavy rain in the forecast will fall over a large area, which could easily overwhelm creeks and streams, and cause rises on the main Stem rivers.

Also, urban flooding is possible, as well as in poor drainage or other low lying areas. Debris flows are also a risk in prolonged rainfall. Road closures will be possible.

Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.
