CALHOUN GRAND JURY INDICTS TWELVE

A May Calhoun Grand Jury has indicted 12 individuals, according to prosecutor Shannon Johnson, with Judge Craig Tatterson presiding.

- Brandon Batton, 24, and Austin Dailey, 20, were indicted on one count of Burglary, a Felony; one count of Conspiracy, a Felony; one count of Petit Larceny, a Misdemeanor; one count of Destruction of Property, a Misdemeanor; and two counts of Conspiracy, a Misdemeanor.

The allegations are that the pair broke into a cabin of James and Evelyn McCormick, causing damage to the cabin and stealing some of the contents. This case was investigated by Senior Trooper Brandon Shingleton of the West Virginia State Police.

- Rickey Carpenter, Jr., 35, was indicted on one count of Possession with Intent to Deliver Hydromorphone, a Felony; one count of Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, a Felony; one count of Driving revoked for DUI, Third Offense, a Felony; and one count of Fleeing from an Officer by Any Means Other than the Use of a Vehicle, Misdemeanor.

It is alleged that Mr. Carpenter fled on foot from police during a traffic stop and that he was found in possession of a large quantity of Hydromorphone pills and Methamphetamine, multiple small baggies commonly used to package illegal substances, and scales. This case was investigated by Senior Trooper S. A. McDonald of the West Virginia State Police.

- Doy Hannah, 38, was indicted on one count of Driving revoked for DUI, Third Offense, a Felony . This case was investigated by Senior Trooper B. K. Shingleton of the West Virginia State Police following a traffic stop.

- Villy Hardway, 54, was indicted on one count of Fleeing in a Vehicle with Reckless Disregard, a Felony, and one count of Driving while license suspended, Third Offense, a Misdemeanor.

It is alleged that Mr. Hardway led Senior Trooper S. A. McDonald of the West Virginia State Police on a high speed car chase after the officer attempted a traffic stop.

- David Jacob Jones, 19, was indicted on one count of Sexual Assault in the First Degree, a Felony; one count of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, a Felony; and two counts of Distribution of Obscene Matter to a Minor, a Felony.

It is alleged that Mr. Jones sexually assaulted two juveniles who were eleven and thirteen years of age at the time of the incident. This case was investigated by Senior Trooper B. K. Shingleton of the West Virginia State Police.

- Phillip Knicely, 28, was indicted on two counts of Forgery, a Felony; two counts of Uttering, a Felony; and two counts of Obtaining Money, Property, and Services by False Pretenses, a Felony.

It is alleged that Mr. Knicely took checks from Charlotte Wright and passed them to Speedy Mart in Arnoldsburg and Mini Mart in Orma. This case was investigated by Sgt. F. Hammock of the West Virginia State Police.

- Nicholas Lane, 21, was indicted on one count of Fleeing in a Vehicle with Reckless Disregard, a Felony; one count of Driving Without a License, first offense, a Misdemeanor; one count of No Registration, a Misdemeanor; one count of Operating a Vehicle Without a Motor Vehicle Inspection Sticker, a Misdemeanor; and one count of No Insurance, a Misdemeanor.

It is alleged that Mr. Lane fled at a high rate of speed from NRPO Charles Stephens after he attempted to make a traffic stop on Mr. Lane's vehicle.

- George Michael Parsons, 30, was indicted on one count of Domestic Battery, 3rd or Subsequent Offense, a Felony; one count of Domestic Assault and Violence, Second Offense, a Misdemeanor; and Violation of a Protective Order, a Misdemeanor.

It is alleged that Mr. Parsons harmed and threatened his wife, Nina Parsons, over a two day period. Senior Trooper D.C. Moore investigated this case.

- Bradley Roberts, 37, was indicted on one count of Fleeing in a Vehicle with Reckless Disregard, a Felony; and one count of Driving while license suspended, a Misdemeanor.

Mr. Roberts allegedly fled from Senior Trooper S. A. McDonald as he attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle Mr. Roberts was driving.

Cicily Ullum, 35, was indicted on one count of Possession with Intent to Deliver Hydrocodone, a Felony; and one count of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Misdemeanor. Ms. Ullum was found to be in possession of a prescription of Hydrocodone, not in her name, and a large sum of cash. This case was investigated by Senior Trooper S. A. McDonald of the West Virginia State Police.

- Mellisa Sue West, 39, was indicted on two counts of Forgery, a Felony; two counts of Uttering, a Felony; and one count of Grand Larceny, a Felony. It is alleged that Mrs. West stole cash and checks, which she then forged and cashed, from Harold Wilson during her employment as a caregiver for him. This case was investigated by Senior Trooper B. K. Shingleton of the West Virginia State Police.

Indictments returned against individuals are merely charges at this time and are not indications of guilt. All the above Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
