(03/31/2017)
A Roane man is behind bars after police say he crashed a tractor trailer while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Chief E.K. Harper with the City of Logan Police Department says the tractor trailer crashed into the Logan Bank & Trust in the plaza, doing major damage to the drive-thru area.

Ricky Carper, 54, of Looneyville in Roane County, was arrested a short time after the crash, hiding in the tractor trailer a short distance from where the crash happened.

According to police, after crashing, Carper drove the visibly damaged truck behind the Walmart store in an effort to hide. That is where police found him still inside the tractor trailer.

Carper was driving the tractor trailer for a company out of Ravenswood in Jackson County.

Police say Carper failed field sobriety tests and a preliminary breath test. He was charged with DUI, reckless driving, failure to report an accident and leaving the scene of an accident.
