GREATEST GENERATION CALHOUNER: CHESLEY RAY "BUCK" BAILEY DIES AT 89

A Parkersburg man and Greatest Generation veteran, Chesley Ray "Buck" Bailey, 89, of Parkersburg, passed away Jan. 27 in Parkersburg.

He was born Oct. 13, 1927, at Euclid, a son of the late Greely Charles and Losie Gae Arnold Bailey.

He was retired from Johns Manville after 38 years of service as a furnace tender. He was a graduate of Calhoun County H.S. and a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII serving on the USS Conserver. He was in the Marshall Islands when the atomic bombs were tested.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Simon and Nancy Jane Arnold; five brothers; and seven sisters. Funeral services are in Parkersburg.
